It's program launch day for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and we're pretty damn excited! We may be 1204 kilometres away (yep we checked!), but our hearts are in Edinburgh today as the Festival team starts spreading the word about what promises to be yet another amazing Festival.
From it's first appearance 70 years ago as an uncurated festival on the edges of the Edinburgh Festival, the Fringe Festival has grown to become the world's largest arts festival. Every year the Edinburgh Fringe Festival plays host to over 50,000 performers and more than 3,000 shows in 300 plus venues! It's a hotbed of everything from theatre, to music, to circus, to exhibitions, to cabaret, to, let's face it, all things performing and fabulous!
And yes, this year, Blue Goat Theatre will be there getting our festival feet wet with our new, original play, J'n'R. A rather apt tie-in to this year's Festival theme - #intotheunknown - J'n'R explores the messy consequences of falling in love at 4am, in the middle of an airport with someone about to get on a plane going in the opposite direction to yours. Fast love and fast comedy make for perfect partners in this show about a badly-timed, but life changing encounter.
Sound like fun? Well, now would really be an awesome time to buy your ticket to one of our shows. Sure there'll be 50,000 other people in Edinburgh, but let's be honest, we really, really want to see you there.
